If there is nothing else you read this year, this book should be it. Ready Player One might be one of my favorite books of all time. I mean right up there with Harry Potter (although it’s very different – please don’t expect this book to be like J.K. Rowling’s magical creation. There is no magic in this book).

It’s a book based in a virtual reality world in which the main character goes to school and is immersed in a form of treasure hunt in which he solves clues and meets unlikely friends. I am not a gamer now and I have never been a gamer, so this is not a book for only those who love video games. It’s a book for everyone.

I’m not going to say much more about it, not because it’s not worth more comment, but because I feel almost unworthy to comment on such a masterpiece. That sounds a little ridiculous and very melodramatic, I know, but I feel like nothing I say can do this book justice so I’m going to stop now.

Read it. Do yourself a favor and read it.
